## Definitions
- Schwarzplan (figure-ground plan): a scaled, abstracted map that renders a city's built mass in solid black on a white ground, revealing urban structure, density and open space. A standard tool in architecture and urban design.
- Lageplan (site plan): a scaled plan of a plot and its surroundings showing boundaries, parcels (Flurstücke) and the planned building — the mandatory basis of a German building application (Bauantrag), usually at 1:500.
